Join us at Abide 2025

Our annual gathering is a guided experience focused on learning and growth through meaningful connection and conversation. You will meet others who understand your cultural background and want to journey together through similar life challenges. Our hope is that you will leave feeling connected, equipped, and rejuvenated.

Abide is not a traditional church retreat or faith-based conference.

People who attend Abide say they have never experienced or seen anything like it. To our knowledge, a community like this does not exist elsewhere for our audience, and we are excited to invite you to be part of building something new at Abide.

At Abide, you will find:

  • a culture of friendship that is built on openness

  • thought-provoking content and conversations

  • refreshing perspectives on faith and identity

  • helpful frameworks for navigating challenges in life

“At Abide, I felt seen, heard, connected, embodied, embraced, and whole. I felt a deep, deep sense of belonging. I didn't have to explain the context of my lived experience—people just knew, and that made me feel like I could rest easy. I felt connected to God in the most authentic version of myself, something I've never experienced anywhere else or in any other community. To be able to worship God out of a sense of wholeness was liberating. Abide gives me hope for the Asian American faith community. Abide is life-giving. Abide is necessary. Abide is healing.”

—Abide Gathering attendee

Abide Gathering exists to encourage Christians with Asian ancestry towards flourishing and deep relationships with God and others. Our annual retreat is an invitation-only event where we cultivate openness and connection through thought-provoking content, shared experiences, and small group conversations. For those who are used to performance-oriented environments, we desire to create room to share the real challenges of life while connecting with others who understand their cultural and familial backgrounds. We expect our time together to be rejuvenating, restful, and restorative.

We have designed Abide for a primarily Asian and Asian American audience in recognition of the value of spaces where Christians from an Asian background can commune in shared experiences and cultural understandings. However, we invite non-Asian spouses and friends to attend as well. We welcome people from a variety of professional backgrounds to the gathering, and especially encourage married couples to attend together. The emphasis of the content and conversations at Abide will be relevant to everyone.

We hope you will join us for this year’s gathering at The Henry Hotel in Dearborn, Michigan from July 6-9, 2025. If you have any questions, please contact events@abidegathering.org.
