Activities at The Henry and near Dearborn, MI
FREE TIME
Your primary free time for activities will be between 3 pm - 6 pm on Monday and 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm on Tuesday.
We have compiled a list of activities that you might want to consider below.

DETROIT FOOD TOUR + INSTITUTE OF ART
We’re excited to announce that one of the free time options will be a food tour led by Abide community members, followed by time at the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA). The cost of the food tour is included in your registration, but the cost of the DIA will be on your own. You do not have to go to the DIA after the food tour. Space for the food tour is limited, so be sure to sign up when you get the pre-event survey in June.
WALK DOWNTOWN DETROIT
Please use this interactive PDF from the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy that has 1, 3, and 5 mile walking/biking routes in and around the downtown Detroit Riverfront area. Click on the name of the route and a map will pop up to show you the route on a website. We will have a sign up sheet to coordinate rides to downtown Detroit.
BIKE DOWNTOWN DETROIT
MoGo city bikes - available all day at various locations throughout the city
$10: 1 Hour Pass offers a single trip with up to 60 minutes of riding time
$15: Unlimited number of trips up to 60 minutes in duration and available for 3 days
PICKLEBALL

Ford Community & Performing Arts Center has four outdoor pickleball courts (Google Maps Pin of Court Location) which can be used on a first come, first served basis. We have balls and paddles that you can take to play. We will have a sign up sheet to coordinate rides to the recreation center.
THE DETROIT INSTITUTE OF ARTS

The museum includes more than 100 galleries, an auditorium, a lecture/recital hall, an art reference library, and a state-of-the-art conservation services laboratory.
DETROIT ZOO

Major exhibits include the Polk Penguin Conservation Center, Arctic Ring of Life, Australian Outback Adventure, Great Apes of Harambee, National Amphibian Conservation Center, Holden Reptile Conservation Center and Butterfly Garden. Home to more than 2,000 animals of more than 200 species.

Ford Rouge Factory Tour (Monday - Saturday - last tour leaves at 3pm)

Belle Isle Park is a 982-acre island park located in Detroit with historic, environmental, and cultural resources that have been beloved for generations. The park is home to the Belle Isle Aquarium (America’s oldest original aquarium), Dossin Great Lakes Museum, Belle Isle Nature Center, the James Scott Memorial Fountain, and more.
Access to island is free by foot, bike, or bus. Fee for driving on to the island ($11/day for nonresidents). Learn more here.
While on Belle Island, you can also rent bikes, kayaks, canoes, and SUP boards from Simple Adventures.

Please reserve bikes at Wheelhouse Detroit at least 12 hours in advance to ensure availability. Prices start at $17 for a 2 hour rental. We will have a sign up sheet to coordinate rides to downtown Detroit.
